Job Summary
The Museum Store Assistant Manager, under the immediate supervision of the Museum Store Manager, will assist in the smooth operation of the museum store supervisors and store associates. Offer customers a remarkable shopping experience with fun, friendly and fast service. Maintain meticulous shop presentation. Training and supervising with high levels of excitement for baseball and sales techniques. The position, is equivalent to the second-in-command of the Museum Gift Shop in the absence of the department manager.
Primary Job Functions
• Restocking inventory and maintaining open lines of communication with mail order, fulfillment and warehouse staff to ensure proper inventory control methods throughout the retail department.
• Greeting customers when entering and thanking customers when exiting.
• Aiding the museum shop reach its per capita sales requirements with proper sales techniques.
• Supervise schedule and train sales personnel in all aspects of the sales position.
• Ensuring museum shop & mail order service is outstanding.
• Maintain visual presentation on museum shop floor.
• Proper and professional handling of phone inquiries.
• Adhere and enforce museum shop guidelines.
• Available to work 30-40 hours per week. Be flexible to work weekends, holidays and evenings where necessary.
• Attend any trainings or meetings as requested by the museum shop manager.
• Ensuring exact cash handling procedures and correctly inputting inventory during the check-out process.
• Aiding the bookstore to reach its per-capita requirements with proper use of sales techniques.
• Maintaining visual presentation of bookstore.
• Keeping current on bookstore inventory and events.
Job Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
2 years of previous experience in retail sales preferred. 1-year supervisory experience, preferably for team of 10+ individuals.
Abilities
Communication skills that demonstrate a mature, positive, friendly, enthusiastic, professional attitude. Baseball knowledge a plus.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
