Author Series: Rick Ankiel

Friday, July 7, 2017 - 11:30am

Our Author Series brings noted baseball authors to Cooperstown for special lectures and book signings during the summer months. These programs are included with the cost of admission.

On Friday, July 7th at 11:30 am, the Hall of Fame will welcome former major leaguer Rick Ankiel to talk about his new book, The Phenomenon: Pressure, the Yips, and the Pitch that Changed My Life.

Former major leaguer Rick Ankiel talks about his new book, The Phenomenon: Pressure, the Yips, and the Pitch that Changed My Life. A phenom with the St. Louis Cardinals, Ankiel suddenly lost his ability to throw strikes and found himself out of the major leagues, but didn’t give up, instead returning as an outfielder for seven seasons. Ankiel will discuss his career, one that saw him become the first ballplayer since Babe Ruth to win at least 10 games and hit at least 50 home runs in the major leagues.

The program includes a presentation in the Bullpen Theater, followed by a book signing in the Library Atrium. Presentation at 11:30 am. Book signing at 12:00 pm.
