This Day in Baseball History
On September 22, 1968, Cesar Tovar of the Minnesota Twins plays every position during a 2-1 win over the Oakland A’s. Tovar plays one inning at each position, in a publicity stunt orchestrated by Twins management. Tovar becomes the second player in major league history to play all nine positions. Three years earlier, the A’s’ Bert Campaneris pulled off the same stunt in a late-season game.
