‘Classic Fest’ Set to Lead Off Father’s Day Weekend in Cooperstown, on June 18 at Doubleday Field
Live Entertainment, Hall of Fame Education Programs to Fill Doubleday Field, Parking Lot for New Beginning to Hall of Fame Classic Game on June 19
COOPERSTOWN, NY – June's best weekend in Cooperstown will have a new standalone event this year, with the addition of Cooperstown Classic Fest to the Hall of Fame Classic Weekend schedule, featuring a full day lineup of public programs, entertainment and vending at Doubleday Field on Saturday, June 18.
The Cooperstown Classic Fest is a collaboration of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Cooperstown to bring the spirit of Cooperstown to life at the home of baseball, with free public programs and entertainment, one day before the Father's Day Hall of Fame Classic on Sunday, June 19. Classic Fest, held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Doubleday Field parking lot just off Main Street, will feature local vendors, live entertainment, food, exhibitors from area businesses and fun-filled family activities. More than 30 area businesses will be a part of the Classic Fest celebration in Doubleday Field parking lot.
Next door at Doubleday Field, the Hall of Fame will educate and entertain fans with programs for all ages from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 18 with hands-on experiences and interactive programs featuring former major leaguers, along with clinics, demonstrations and events, presented against the backdrop of the Hall of Fame's award-winning educational programs. The Legends for Youth Skills Clinic leads off the Hall of Fame's public programs at 8 a.m. at Doubleday on June 18, with advance registration required.
Classic Fest leads in to Sunday's Hall of Fame Classic, a seven-inning legends game featuring Hall of Famers Andre Dawson, Goose Gossage, Phil Niekro, Jim Rice, Ozzie Smith and Dick Williams. Tickets remain for the Hall of Fame Classic and can be purchased at the Museum or by calling 607-547-0397. Tickets are $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for outfield seats.
The 2011 Baseball Hall of Fame Classic is co-organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. For the third straight year, Ford Motor Company is the Presenting Sponsor of the Hall of Fame Classic.
Among the former big league players scheduled to participate in the Classic are Frank Catalanotto, Dave Fleming, Doug Glanville, Dave Henderson, Bill Lee, Dale Murphy, Billy Sample, Reggie Sanders, Willie Wilson, Rick Wise and Dmitri Young.
In addition to Classic Fest, other activities planned for Classic Weekend include a Hall of Fame golf tournament fundraiser for the Museum, the Youth Skills Clinic, a photo opportunity featuring the six Hall of Fame legends, a Voices of the Game event featuring the seven Hall of Famers and other unique programs throughout the Museum.
The Hall of Fame Classic will be preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade, presented by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, the village of Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, beginning at noon on Father's Day on Main Street. Game participants will ride in the parade on their way to Doubleday Field. The Legends Hitting Contest will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the Hall of Fame Classic at 2 p.m.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The Museum observes summer hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. from Memorial Day Weekend until the day before Labor Day.
