Baseball Hall of Fame to Honor 9/11 Anniversary with Special Programs, Blood Drive

Those Who Donate Blood Will Receive Free Museum Admission

COOPERSTOWN, NY – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will honor the 10th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001, with a blood drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, as well as special artifact presentations commemorating the anniversary.

Blood donors will receive free admission to the Museum on Sunday, Sept. 11, as the Museum will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. – with the blood drive, held in conjunction with Bassett Healthcare, taking place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Volunteer donors who have not made blood donations within the last 56 days of Sept. 11 are eligible to give blood.

The Museum's Special September 11th Artifact Spotlight will feature artifacts related to baseball's response to the tragic events of that 2001 day. The special presentation will take place at 11:30 a.m. and will feature Curt Schilling's Diamondbacks cap from the 2001 season, featuring an American flag added when baseball resumed play, along with Schilling's personal tributes to the USA, New York City firemen and policemen who lost their lives in the attacks. Additionally, visitors will learn more about a souvenir baseball found by NYC firemen in the rubble of the World Trade Center. The program is free with Museum admission.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day Weekend through the day before Labor Day, the Museum observes summer hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12). Members are always admitted free of charge and there is no charge for children 6 years of age or younger.
