COOPERSTOWN, NY – It’s about the history, a chance to watch baseball’s best take the field in Cooperstown at Sunday’s Hall of Fame Classic.

It’s about the excellence, celebrating your love of the game with seven Hall of Famers and thousands of fans at Doubleday Field. It’s about the connection – the bond between father and child and baseball that has been passed through generations.

But mostly, it’s about dad. And this Sunday, you can share a wonderful Father’s Day memory together through the bond that is baseball.

Limited tickets remain for Sunday’s 2 p.m. Hall of Fame Classic in Cooperstown. Last-minute gift seekers can secure seats to the seven-inning legends game at Doubleday Field by calling 607-547-0397 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by visiting the Museum Store at the Hall of Fame. Tickets are $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for outfield seats.

Hall of Famers Gary Carter, Bob Feller, Rollie Fingers, Goose Gossage, Harmon Killebrew, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith will appear at the Classic, along with former major leaguers Kevin Bass, Paul Blair, Brian Boehringer, Bert Campaneris, John Doherty, Dave Fleming, Jeff Kent, Tim Leary, Bill Madlock, Mike Pagliarulo, Dennis Rasmussen and Rich Surhoff.

The Hall of Fame Classic will be preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade, presented by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, the village of Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, beginning at noon on Main Street. Game participants will ride in the parade on their way to Doubleday Field. The Legends Hitting Contest will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the Hall of Fame Classic at 2 p.m.

The Hall of Fame Classic is the centerpiece of several weekend events in Cooperstown, including:

  • Family Catch: In honor of Father’s Day, the Hall of Fame will host a game of catch at Doubleday Field between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, to allow parents and kids to enjoy one of baseball’s timeless traditions. A limited number of participants can reserve a spot on the field in 20-minute intervals for this free event.
  • Legends for Youth Skills Clinic: The Youth Skills Clinic, presented by the Hall of Fame and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, gives children ages 5 to 12 a chance to spend the afternoon enhancing their baseball skills with former major leaguers on historic Doubleday Field. This free program is exclusively for members.
  • Voices of the Game: Hall of Fame Classic: A special Father’s Day edition of our Voices of the Game series will be held Saturday, June 19, with Hall of Famers Gary Carter, Bob Feller, Rollie Fingers, Goose Gossage, Harmon Killebrew, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith. The program starts at 7 p.m. in the Sterling Auditorium at Cooperstown High School. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12-and-under.

Other activities planned for Classic Weekend include the Cooperstown Golf Classic fundraiser for the Museum, an Author’s Series presentation featuring Harold Theurer Jr., author of “Hey Dad! Let’s Have a Catch” at 10 a.m. on June 19, and other special programs throughout the Museum.

Members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum receive free admission to the Museum, as well as access to exclusive programs, such as the Voices of the Game Series. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. Ticket prices are $16.50 for adults (13 and over), $11 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $6 for juniors (ages 7-12).
