Brothers and Sisters of the Game: Hall of Fame Celebrates Sibling Day on April 12
Author Audrey Vernick to Discuss New Book on Acerra Brothers Baseball Team; Siblings Receive Buy-One, Get-One Admission Rates
COOPERSTOWN, NY – The National Pastime has bonded families throughout more than two centuries of baseball games in America and around the world.
On Thursday, April 12, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates that bond with Sibling Day in Cooperstown. In honor of Sibling Day, the Museum is offering a special buy-one, get-one free ticket offer to siblings of any age. The offer must be redeemed on arrival at the Museum’s Ticket Booth.
The connection of generations on the diamond will be told through a special Authors Series program on April 12 with noted children’s author Audrey Vernick. The 1 p.m. event in the Museum’s Bullpen Theater will feature Vernick discussing her new book “Brothers at Bat: The True Story of an Amazing All-Brother Baseball Team.” A book signing will follow the program, which is included with the cost of Museum admission.
The book focuses on the Acerra Brothers, a Long Branch, N.J., family which fielded a 12-man semi-pro baseball team from 1938-52. The team played under the guidance of their father, Louis “Pop” Acerra, and competed throughout the Eastern United States.
