Celebrate Family Day on Saturday at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown with Free Kids Admission

Hands-On Activities Featured at Museum Throughout the Day to Celebrate Arrival of Fall, Cooperstown’s PumpkinFest Celebration

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – As baseball’s regular season winds down and the postseason gears up, families will connect through the excitement and drama of the National Pastime. 

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will celebrate that connection with Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 22, in Cooperstown with events for young and young-at-heart, including free admission all day for children ages 12 and under with the admission of an adult. The celebration will feature hands-on activities, crafts and demonstrations throughout the Museum as well as a special program in honor of PumpkinFest, which will be held in Cooperstown throughout the weekend. 

All events are included with Museum admission. A schedule of events for the Sept. 22 Family Day is as follows: 

11 a.m. to  3 p.m.  

Pumpkin Regatta Pennant Workshop
Location: Learning Center, 1st Floor

 Stop by the Learning Center throughout the day to design your own pennant or sign to help cheer on the paddlers at Sunday morning’s Pumpkin Regatta at Lake Front Park in Cooperstown. Create a sign supporting the Hall of Fame team or any other Regatta sponsor. 

12 p.m.            

Visit with a Vendor
Location: Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor

Learn about business at the ballpark from a “ballpark vendor” in this fun Museum theater program for all ages. 

1 p.m.              

Making Airwaves
Location: Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor

Help us recreate and record a historic radio broadcast in this interactive program that is fun for the whole family. 

3 p.m.              

So You Think You Know Baseball?
Location: Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor

Test your knowledge of baseball history in this interactive game show. 

Activities throughout the Day: 

Hands On History Stations

Watch out for Hands-On History Carts making their way through the Museum during the day. These carts allow visitors to experience different eras of baseball's past in an interactive fashion.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through the day before Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12).
