Museum Offers Break Week Programs For Visitors April 1-6 as Opening Day Arrives

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The start of the 2013 campaign is just days away, and fans and students alike can experience the thrills of the new season as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum presents Spring Break Week fun for the whole family April 1-6 in Cooperstown.

With many schools in the Northeast on break this week, Museum visitors can compete in baseball knowledge game shows, celebrate the 125th anniversary of Ernest Lawrence Thayer’s classic poem “Casey at the Bat” and cheer on their favorite team while watching the Opening Day games at the Museum.

All events are included with Museum admission. The schedule of events includes:

Monday, April 1

The Plaques of the Gallery

10:30 a.m. - Plaque Gallery, 1st Floor
Learn about the history of the Hall of Fame Gallery and the process by which each plaque is made and installed in this 20 minute guided tour. The tour starts by the Membership and Museum Services Desk.

Visit with a Vendor

11:30 a.m. - Sacred Ground Exhibit, 3rd Floor
Learn all about ballpark vendors and foods they sell in this museum theater program.

Opening Day Celebration

1-5 p.m. - Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor
Join us for a timeless baseball tradition: Opening Day! Visitors to the Hall of Fame can catch live action of Opening Day games in the Bullpen Theater. In between innings, try your hand at some baseball trivia.

 Stop by our Hands-On History Cart to learn more about the equipment used to play baseball, both past and present.

Casey at the Bat Poetry Station

2:30 p.m. - Learning Center, 1st Floor
To celebrate National Poetry month, and the 125th anniversary of Casey at the Bat, join us in the Learning Center for a reading of Ernest Thayer’s famous poem. Afterward, try your own hand at a baseball poem.

So You Think You Know Baseball?

3:30 p.m. - Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor
Test your knowledge of baseball past and present in the Hall of Fame's interactive family game show.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through the day before Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12).
