Discovery Tour Gives Scouts a Chance to Enjoy Baseball’s Timeless Values at Hall of Fame

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts Earn Patches for Completing Tour

August 20, 2010
During the Museum Discovery tour, scouts complete a scavenger hunt which takes them throughout the Museum.

COOPERSTOWN, NY – The search for history happens every day at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Now, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts from around the country can participate in their own quest for knowledge in Cooperstown – and receive a special patch for their efforts.

The Hall of Fame has partnered with the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways and the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America to provide a fun patch for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts who visit the Museum in Cooperstown. Scouts can earn the patch when they complete a Museum Discovery Tour designed to guide them through the Museum, with a special focus on virtues and character traits exemplified by those involved in Scouting.

Scouts search the Museum to find the answers to educational questions and learn more about the rich history of the National Pastime. Upon completion of the Discovery Tour, Scout leaders can mail the finished tour and patch payment directly to the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways or the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The patches will then be mailed to the troop leaders or parents.

The Boy Scout Discovery Tour will feature a Scavenger Hunt patch. The Girl Scout Discovery Tour was developed by Troop 286 from Cooperstown, N.Y., which worked with the Museum’s Education Department to help design the tour. This program marks the debut of the Girl Scouts Discovery Tour at the Hall of Fame.

The Boy Scout and Girl Scout Discovery Tours are available at the Hall of Fame’s Ticket Booth. The cost of the Discover Tours is included with Museum admission. To schedule a group tour of the Hall of Fame, please call 607-547-0312.
