Full Schedule of Events Highlights Hall of Fame Classic Weekend

Members Can Reserve Spots for Family Catch, Youth Skills Clinic and Voices of the Game Program Beginning Monday, May 24

COOPERSTOWN, NY – The perfect Father’s Day destination is Cooperstown – where the legends will play at the second annual Hall of Fame Classic. The June 20 Classic highlights an entire weekend of family-friendly events designed for baseball fans of all ages, to take place at the Museum and throughout Cooperstown.

A full weekend of family events, baseball entertainment and exclusive opportunities makes the ultimate Father’s Day gift. Tickets for the following June 19 events can be reserved by participants in the Hall of Fame’s Membership Program starting Monday, May 24 by calling 607-547-0397:

  • Family Catch: In honor of Father’s Day, the Hall of Fame will host a game of catch at Doubleday Field between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to allow parents and kids to enjoy one of baseball’s timeless traditions. A limited number of participants can reserve a spot on the field in 20-minute intervals for this free event.
  • Legends for Youth Skills Clinic: The Youth Skills Clinic, presented by the Hall of Fame and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, gives children ages 5 to 12 a chance to spend the afternoon enhancing their baseball skills with former major leaguers on historic Doubleday Field. This free program is exclusively for members.
  • Voices of the Game: Hall of Fame Classic: A special Father’s Day edition of our Voices of the Game series will be held with Hall of Famers Gary Carter, Bob Feller, Rollie Fingers, Goose Gossage, Harmon Killebrew, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith. The program starts at 7 p.m. in the Sterling Auditorium at Cooperstown High School. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12-and-under.

The 2010 Baseball Hall of Fame Classic is co-organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. Ford Motor Company will be the Presenting Sponsor of the Baseball Hall of Fame Classic.

Tickets for the June 20 Hall of Fame Classic are still available and can be reserved online at baseballhall.org or by calling 1-866-849-7770. Tickets are $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for outfield seats. A $3.50 handling charge per ticket applies to phone and online orders. Phone orders will be taken Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EDT and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT. The online ordering system at www.baseballhall.org is available 24 hours per day.

Classic Weekend will feature a slate of family friendly activities, highlighted by the return of the Hall of Fame Classic. Other activities planned for Classic Weekend include the Cooperstown Golf Classic fundraiser for the Museum, an Author’s Series presentation featuring Harold Theurer Jr., author of “Hey Dad! Let’s Have a Catch” at 10 a.m. on June 19, and other special programs throughout the Museum.

Among the 20 other recently retired players already committed to participate in the Classic include former major league stars Kevin Bass, Paul Blair, Brian Boehringer, Bert Campaneris, John Doherty, Jim Hannan, Jay Johnstone, Jeff Kent, Tim Leary, Bill Madlock, Mike Pagliarulo, Dennis Rasmussen, Lee Smith and Rich Surhoff. Additional participants will be announced throughout the spring.

The Hall of Fame Classic will be preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade, presented by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, the village of Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, beginning at noon on Main Street. Game participants will ride in the parade on their way to Doubleday Field. The Legends Hitting Contest will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the Hall of Fame Classic at 2 p.m.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Ticket prices are $16.50 for adults (13 and over), $11 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $6 for juniors (ages 7-12).
