(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Baseball fans can help make the season merrier for families in need and experience the magic of the holidays in Cooperstown at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s annual Holiday Celebration.

The Hall of Fame will host its Holiday Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 8, with family-friendly activities throughout the day in the Museum. In the spirit of the holidays, all Museum visitors receive free admission all day on Saturday with the donation of at least two non-perishable food items. All donations support the Cooperstown Food Bank and Opportunities for Otsego.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., stop by the Museum’s Hands-on History Stations, located by the Diamond Dreams exhibit on the second floor and the Pastime Portraits exhibit on the third floor. Visitors will learn more about the equipment used to play the game, both past and present.

From 12-2 p.m., visit the holiday craft area in the Museum’s Learning Center and make your own baseball-themed Christmas tree.

At 2 p.m., visitors can enjoy a special holiday performance by the Pathfinder Village Hand Bell Choir in the Hall of Fame Gallery. Pathfinder Village is a community in Edmeston, N.Y., dedicated to serving individuals with Down syndrome.

And at 3 p.m., learn more about the history of the Plaque Gallery and how the Hall of Fame plaques are made in the 20-minute Plaques of the Gallery guided tour.

The Museum’s updated Autumn Glory exhibit will also be open. The exhibit features several artifacts from the 2012 Major League Baseball postseason, including World Series MVP Pablo Sandoval’s bat he used to hit two of his record-tying three home runs in Game 1 of the Fall Classic.
