Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Visitors Urged to Utilize Special Parking Options
Peripheral Lots, Shuttle and Trolley Services Provide Multiple Choices for Travelers
COOPERSTOWN, NY – Visitors to Cooperstown for the 2011 Induction Weekend, including the Saturday, July 23 Awards Presentation and the Sunday, July 24 Induction Ceremony, are advised to utilize several parking and transportation options in an effort to alleviate potential delays and traffic problems.
The 2011 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, one mile south of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Travelers are advised to allow plenty of time to find parking and transportation to the following points close to the Induction. Because of its small size – with a year-round population of 2,100 residents and just one traffic light – Cooperstown will fill up quickly during Hall of Fame Weekend. Parking arrangements detailed below will be in place for Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24.
Three trolley lots, located just outside the village limits and color-coded in blue, red and yellow, are available for those visitors already in the immediate Cooperstown village area. Parking in these lots is free, though a trolley ticket during Hall of Fame Weekend costs $5 for adults. Children 12 and under will ride free, and the trolley service will operate from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily during Induction Weekend.
Parking spots in these lots are limited. Trolleys will run only from the lots to regular stops in the village. Trolleys will not run to and from the Induction site. Hall of Fame shuttle service will provide free shuttle buses from Doubleday Field to the Induction site, with continuous service from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then from the conclusion of the Induction Ceremony until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. Shuttles will not run during the Induction Ceremony.
Maps for all parking options are available online at baseballhall.org. For complete Hall of Fame Weekend information, including a detailed schedule of events, please visit baseballhall.org or call 888-HALL-OF-FAME.
