Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Visitors Urged to Utilize Special Parking Options

Peripheral Lots, Shuttle and Trolley Services Provide Multiple Choices for Travelers

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Visitors to Cooperstown for the 2013 Induction Weekend, including the Saturday, July 27 Awards Presentation and the Sunday, July 28 Induction Ceremony, are advised to utilize several parking and transportation options in an effort to alleviate potential delays and traffic problems.

The 2013 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. Travelers are advised to allow plenty of time to find parking and transportation to the following points close to the Induction. Because of its small size – with a year-round population of about 2,000 residents and just one traffic light – Cooperstown will fill up quickly during Hall of Fame Weekend. Parking arrangements detailed below will be in place for Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28.

Three trolley lots, located just outside the village limits and color-coded in red, blue and yellow, are available for those visitors in the immediate Cooperstown village area. Parking in these lots is free, and a trolley ticket good for unlimited daily transportation costs $2 for adults. Children 5 and under will ride free, and the trolley service will operate from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily all weekend.

Parking spots in these lots are limited. Trolleys will run only from the lots to regular stops in the village. Trolleys will not run to and from the Induction site. Hall of Fame shuttle service will provide free shuttle buses from Doubleday Field to the Induction site, with continuous service from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then resuming at the conclusion of the Induction Ceremony. Shuttles will not run during the Induction Ceremony.

The July 26-28 Induction Weekend will feature three days filled with family-friendly events in Cooperstown as Hank O’Day, Jacob Ruppert and Deacon White are enshrined as the Class of 2013 at the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Induction Ceremony takes place at 1:30 p.m. on July 28 on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, one mile south of the Hall of Fame on Susquehanna Avenue. Admission to the Induction Ceremony is free.

The Ceremony will be televised live on MLB Network, broadcast nationally on Sirius XM Radio Sirius 209 and XM 89 and will be available via a Webcast at www.baseballhall.org.

The Museum maintains the following Hall of Fame Weekend hours: Friday, July 26: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Saturday, July 27: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday, July 28: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Advance tickets are not necessary but are available by contacting the Hall of Fame at 888-425-5633. For Hall of Fame Members, doors open at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. As always, Hall of Fame Members receive free admission. Interested parties may enroll in the Membership Program in advance or at the Museum.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Museum observes summer hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. from Memorial Day Weekend until the day before Labor Day. From Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend, the Museum observes daily regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12).
