Hall of Fame Plaques of Members of Class of 2014 to Visit Ballparks Throughout August

Events in Chicago, Oakland and Atlanta to Feature Iconic Bronze Tributes of Newest Hall of Famers

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) The bronze likenesses of the Class of 2014 will live in Cooperstown forever. 

But for a few days during August for team ceremonies, five Hall of Fame plaques will visit ballparks across the country – giving fans the chance to celebrate the Hall of Fame induction of their heroes. 

The Hall of Fame plaques of Bobby Cox, Tom Glavine, Tony La Russa, Greg Maddux and Frank Thomas will be taken off the oak-lined walls of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s iconic Plaque Gallery and travel to events at intervals during the next four weeks. The plaques will be removed from the Plaque Gallery the night before traveling and return to the Museum immediately after each event. 

The schedule for plaques traveling in August includes:

Frank Thomas plaque

  • Removed from display: Friday, Aug. 1 at 5 p.m.
  • Off display: Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday (at U.S. Cellular Field Saturday, Aug. 2)
  • Returning to display: Monday, Aug. 4 at 9 a.m.

Bobby Cox, Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux plaques

  • Removed from display: Thursday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m.
  • Off display: Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Turner Field
  • Returning to display: Monday, Aug. 11 at 9 a.m.

Tony La Russa plaque

  • Removed from display: Thursday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m.
  • Off display: Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at O.co Coliseum
  • Returning to display: Monday, Aug. 11 at 9 a.m.
  • Removed from display: Friday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m.
  • Off display: Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at U.S. Cellular Field
  • Returning to display: Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 9 a.m.
