Hall of Famer Rollie Fingers Returns to Cooperstown to Host Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open Pro-Am Sept. 3

Annual Event Benefits Pathfinder Village and Hall of Fame’s Educational Programs; Hall of Famer also Featured in Museum’s Voices of the Game Series on Labor Day

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – His big league career was built on helping others – preserving 341 wins for teammates. 

This September, Rollie Fingers will reprise his most famous role in Cooperstown, helping a group of special students and connecting with fans at the 31st Annual Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open and Pro-Am Golf Tournament. 

Fingers, a 1992 Hall of Fame inductee the 1981 American League Cy Young and Most Valuable Player award winner, is the celebrity host for the Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open and Pro-Am Golf Tournament, Sept. 3-6 at the Leatherstocking Golf Course in Cooperstown. Fingers will participate in the Sept. 3 Pro-Am, while nearly 100 top pros from around the country are expected to compete in the Seniors Open, which runs Wednesday through Friday, Sept. 4-6. Fans are encouraged to attend the Sept. 4-6 Seniors Open, with free admission provided for spectators at the Leatherstocking Golf Course. 

On Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 2 – Fingers will be featured in a special Voices of the Game event at 10 a.m. in the Museum. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Tickets can be reserved by participants in the Hall of Fame’s Membership Program immediately by calling 607-547-0397 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday. Aug. 26. 

As the Pro-Am master of ceremonies, Fingers – a seven-time All-Star who was the all-time leader in saves when he retired following the 1985 season – will be featured throughout the Tuesday, Sept. 3 Pro-Am and as the speaker at that evening’s fundraiser dinner. Proceeds from this event benefit Pathfinder Village located in nearby Edmeston, a residential community dedicated to children and adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Annually, the Seniors Open raises more than $50,000 for scholarships for Pathfinder Village and directly helps the Village’s 90-plus residents. More than $2 million has been raised for Pathfinder Village through the years. 

Proceeds also benefit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum educational programs, which enables the world-famous Museum to fulfill its educational mission and care for its priceless collections. 

The Otesaga Resort Hotel is the tournament’s title sponsor and has been instrumental in the tournament’s success. Located on the shores of beautiful Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, the Otesaga Resort Hotel has been selected as a “Historic Hotel of America” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. 

Overlooking picturesque Otsego Lake, the Otesaga Hotel’s Leatherstocking Golf Course is considered one of the East’s most scenic and historic par-72 layouts. Designed by the legendary Devereux Emmet in 1909, Leatherstocking has been rated “four stars” by Golf Digest’s “Places to Play.”

Tom Eubank of Ellijay, Ga., shot a tournament record-tying 64 in the final round to capture the 2012 Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open. Rains forced the cancellation of the Seniors Open in 2011.
