Legendary Entertainment’s ‘42’ Opens 2013 Baseball Film Festival at the Museum Sept. 27
Free Screening of Producer Thomas Tull’s Acclaimed Jackie Robinson Biopic Will Be Presented in Hall of Fame’s Grandstand Theater
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Jackie Robinson brought the United States together with his courageous actions on and off the baseball diamond in 1947.
This fall, Legendary Entertainment’s celebrated story of Robinson’s rookie season – the acclaimed film “42” – will bring fans to Cooperstown at the 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame Film Festival.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will host a screening of “42” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 as the opening event of the Film Festival. Producer Thomas Tull’s passion project has earned praise from critics and fans for its portrayal of Robinson’s groundbreaking path to the big leagues.
The film will be shown in the big screen experience of the Museum’s Grandstand Theater. Tickets are free but limited and must be reserved. Fans can reserve tickets immediately by calling 607-547-0397 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET or visiting the Museum’s Membership Desk.
The Museum will recognize the twin traditions of baseball and film when, for the eighth consecutive year, it hosts the Baseball Film Festival in Cooperstown, Sept. 27-29. Eleven films, with themes ranging from legendary fan Johnny Sylvester to the inspiring play of Beep Ball athletes, will be screened throughout the weekend as filmmakers and fans celebrate the timeless connection between baseball and the big screen. All films will be shown in the Hall of Fame’s Grandstand Theater and Bullpen Theater.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. From Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend, the Museum observes daily regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Museum observes summer hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. from Memorial Day Weekend until the day before Labor Day. Ticket prices are $19.50 for adults (13 and over), $12 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $7 for juniors (ages 7-12). Members are always admitted free of charge and there is no charge for children 6 years of age or younger.
