Lessons from Legends: Former Big Leaguers to Serve as Instructors for May 23 Youth Skills Clinic

Limited Spots Remain for Free Event as Part of Hall of Fame Classic Weekend in Cooperstown

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – They played the game at the highest level. And now, they’re giving back to the game’s future at the home of baseball history in Cooperstown.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will present the Legends for Youth Skills Clinic on Friday, May 23 at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Children ages 7-12 will have a chance to spend the afternoon honing their baseball skills with former major leaguers.

The clinic lasts from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and kids will receive two hours of on-field time with instructors Joel Bennett, Dave Criscione, John Doherty, David Eckstein, Brian Fisher, Steve Grilli, Scott Hatteberg, Mark Kotsay and Reggie Sanders as well as one hour off the field interaction, including an autograph session.

The May 24 Hall of Fame Classic features Hall of Famers Roberto Alomar, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith along with 30 big league fan-favorites representing each major league team. The annual legends game begins at 2:05 p.m., with the Home Run Derby at 1 p.m. and the Cooperstown Game Day Parade at 12 noon. 

Tickets for the Hall of Fame Classic are $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for general admission outfield seats.
