Children Ages 5-12 Can Learn Tips of the Game from Former Big Leaguers in Fun-Filled Morning as Part of Hall of Fame Classic Weekend
COOPERSTOWN, NY – The history of the National Pastime comes alive every day at the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The future of the game, however, will also be on display this month in Cooperstown as part of Hall of Fame Classic Weekend.
The Legends for Youth Skills Clinic, presented by the Hall of Fame and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, will present future stars age 5 to 12 with the opportunity to spend a morning enhancing their baseball skills with former major leaguers on June 18 at historic Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. This program begins at 8 a.m. and runs until noon.
Registration is free, and a limited number of spots remain available for the event. Spots must be reserved in advance. To reserve a spot, please call 607-547-0397.
Former major leaguers scheduled to participate as instructors include Joel Bennett, Don Demola, John Doherty, Doug Glanville, Jim Hannan, Dave Henderson, Oreste Marrero, Jon Warden and Rick Wise, along with others to be announced. Participants will receive hands-on instruction and playing tips from the former major leaguers.
The annual Legends for Youth Skills Clinic is just part of an action-packed Hall of Fame Classic Weekend, presented by Ford Motor Company, at the National Baseball Hall of Fame – highlighted by the Father's Day legends game at Doubleday Field. Six Hall of Fame members are scheduled to participate in the June 19 Hall of Fame Classic at Doubleday Field, including Andre Dawson, Goose Gossage, Phil Niekro, Jim Rice, Ozzie Smith and Dick Williams.
Tickets remain for the Hall of Fame Classic and can be purchased exclusively at baseballhall.org or by calling 1-866-849-7770. Tickets are $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for outfield seats.

Among the former big league players committed to participate in the Classic are Frank Catalanotto, Cliff Floyd, Steve Garvey, Dave Henderson, Bill Lee, Dale Murphy, Reggie Sanders, Willie Wilson, Rick Wise and Dmitri Young.
In addition to the Legends for Youth Skills Clinic, other activities planned for Classic Weekend include a Hall of Fame golf tournament fundraiser for the Museum, the new Classic Fest at Doubleday Field, a Voices of the Game program featuring the six Hall of Fame legends, and other unique programs throughout the Museum.
