COOPERSTOWN, NY – The timeless connection between fathers and their children is celebrated every day at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

But the National Pastime’s unique ability to bond the generations is especially evident during Father’s Day Weekend in Cooperstown. In a little less than two months, the Hall of Fame pays tribute to that connection with the annual Hall of Fame Classic at Doubleday Field.

Now is the time to deliver the perfect Father’s Day gift for Dad, with a chance to see six Hall of Fame legends, and 20 other former major league stars, at the home of baseball, in Cooperstown, New York, June 15-17.

The Fourth Annual Hall of Fame Classic, presented by Ford Motor Company, will be held Saturday, June 16 – the day before Father’s Day. The Classic, a legends game at historic Doubleday Field, featuring a pre-game Main Street Parade and hitting contest, highlights a family-friendly weekend of activities for all ages.

Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro, Tony Pérez, and Ozzie Smith will headline the Hall of Fame Weekend on June 15-17. Former big leaguers Jesse Barfield, Brian Boehringer, Ben Davis, John Doherty, Brian Fisher, Todd Haney, Jim Hannan, Howard Johnson, Jack Lazorko, Rob Mackowiak, Russ Ortiz, Desi Relaford, Shane Reynolds and Rick Wise have already committed to appear at the Classic, with more players to be announced this spring. The 2012 Hall of Fame Classic will once again be staged in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.

Hall of Fame Classic Weekend will feature a slate of family friendly activities, including a Hall of Fame golf tournament fundraiser for the Museum, the Youth Skills Clinic hosted by several former major league players, a special Voices of the Game program featuring Hall of Fame members, the fan-favorites Family Catch and Kids Run the Bases on Doubleday Field, and other unique programs throughout the Museum.

The Hall of Fame Classic will be preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade at 12 noon, on Main Street, hosted by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, the village of Cooperstown and the Hall of Fame. The pre-game hitting contest will begin at 1 p.m., featuring the game’s participants.

On Friday, June 15, the Museum will host the Legends for Youth Skills Clinic, from 4-7 p.m. at Doubleday Field. Hosted in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, the Clinic gives youth participants ages 5-12 a chance to learn hands-on training from several former major league stars. At 7 p.m. on June 16, the six Hall of Fame members will be featured in a Voices of the Game roundtable discussion of baseball at Doubleday Field in a one-hour reflection on their memories of the game. On Father’s Day, June 17, the Hall of Fame will host Family Catch from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Kids Run the Bases from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Doubleday Field. A limited number of participants can reserve a spot for these free events by calling 607-547-0397.

The third annual Cooperstown Golf Classic on Sunday, June 17 will feature Hall of Famers Blyleven, Fisk, Murray, Niekro, Pérez, Smith and serve as a fundraiser for the Hall of Fame's educational programs. A unique social experience providing memories and camaraderie that will last a lifetime, golfers of any ability will enjoy a private cocktail reception in the Hall of Fame plaque gallery, breakfast on the Leatherstocking Golf Course clubhouse verandah, a round of golf in a scramble format at Leatherstocking, and conclude with a luncheon and awards ceremony, all in the company of the Hall of Famers. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. From Memorial Day through the day before Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week.
