The Father’s Day Weekend tradition will feature family-friendly programs throughout three days in America’s Most Perfect Village, highlighted by the seven-inning legends game at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16. Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro, Tony Pérez and Ozzie Smith headline the Hall of Fame Classic, with more than 20 additional retired big leaguers – like two-time All-Star and 1984 World Series champion Darrell Evans, who was recently added to the Classic roster – scheduled to attend.

Evans, who hit 414 home runs in a 21-year big league career with the Braves, Giants and Tigers, becomes the second member of the 400-home run club on the Classic roster, joining Murray (504 home runs). Evans and Murray are two of five former American League or National League home runs champions scheduled to participate, including Jesse Barfield, Dante Bichette and Howard Johnson.
In addition to Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro, Tony Pérez and Ozzie Smith, former big leaguers scheduled to appear at Saturday’s Classic include: Jesse Barfield, Joel Bennett, Dante Bichette, Brian Boehringer, Will Cunnane, Ben Davis, John Doherty, Darrell Evans, Brian Fisher, Todd Haney, Jim Hannan, Howard Johnson, Rick Lancellotti, Jack Lazorko, Rob Mackowiak, Oreste Marrero, Russ Ortiz, Dennis Rasmussen, Desi Relaford, Jon Warden, Rick Wise and Dmitri Young.
The 2012 Baseball Hall of Fame Classic is co-organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. For the fourth straight year, Ford Motor Company is the Presenting Sponsor of the Hall of Fame Classic.
In addition to the Hall of Fame Classic, other activities planned for Classic Weekend include a Voices of the Game program with the six Hall of Fame legends, a Hall of Fame golf tournament fundraiser for the Museum, the Youth Skills Clinic, and other unique programs throughout the Museum.
The Hall of Fame Classic will be preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade, presented by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, the village of Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, beginning at noon Saturday on Main Street. Game participants will ride in the parade on their way to Doubleday Field. The Legends Hitting Contest will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the Hall of Fame Classic at 2 p.m.
