With a 9-0 record to start his career, the righty becomes the first hurler since Whitey Ford to start his career with that many wins without a loss. Weaver will suffer a defeat in his next start.
On September 24, 2006, closer Trevor Hoffman of the Padres sets an all-time record when he records his 479th save in a 2-1 victory for San Diego over Pittsburgh. The right-hander eclipses the record previously held by Lee Smith.
