On December 26, 1964, the Seattle Angels of the Pacific Coast League name Bob Lemon their new manager. Lemon, who last pitched in the majors in 1958, will eventually become the manager of the Kansas City Royals in 1970.

On July 28, 1909, National League President Harry Pulliam commits suicide at the New York Athletic Club. The 40-year-old Pulliam, distraught by his performance in office, had recently been granted a leave of absence.
