Hall of Fame Awards Presentation

The Hall of Fame Awards Presentation will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 at Doubleday Field and will feature the presentation of the Ford C. Frick Award for baseball broadcasting excellence to Bill King and the the first female award winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for meritorious contributions to baseball writing to Claire Smith.

The Awards Presentation is free and open to the public. Gates at Doubleday Field open at 3 p.m. Fans with tickets should enter through the first base gate, while non-ticketed fans must enter through the third base gate.

The Awards Presentation will be immediately followed by the Parade of Legends, as Hall of Fame members ride down Main Street in trucks provided by Ford Motor Company at 6 p.m., concluding with a red carpet arrival on the Museum steps as Hall of Fame members make their way to the Museum for a private reception.

Bill King Named 2017 Ford C. Frick Award Winner

Bill King, whose quarter-of-a-century run as the voice of the Oakland Athletics cemented his status as one of the Bay Area’s iconic voices, has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award.

Claire Smith 1st Female Spink Award Winner

Claire Smith was elected the 2017 winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
