Virtual Author Series: Paul Hensler

Thursday, June 24, 2021 - 2:00pm

Joining us for the Virtual Author Series is Paul Hensler, author of the new book, Gathering Crowds: Catching Baseball Fever in the New Era of Free Agency.

A frequent visitor to Cooperstown and longtime participant in the Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture, Paul Hensler will describe how the game grew and evolved during the late 1970s and into the 1980s. At a time when many thought big market teams would dominate, small market clubs in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Minnesota emerged as world champions. Increasing coverage of games on cable TV only created a desire for more baseball, not less.

We’ll talk to Paul about the state of the game during this burgeoning era, and take your questions, as well.
