Our Authors Series brings noted baseball authors to Cooperstown for special lectures and book signings during the summer months. These programs are included with the cost of admission.
On Wednesday, August 1st at 1pm, the Hall of Fame will welcome author Larry Baldassaro to talk about his new book, Baseball Italian Style.
A leading historian on Italian-American baseball, Larry Baldassaro brings together the memories of Italian major leaguers whose collective careers span almost a century. In these first-person accounts, fans will meet at an intimate level the players they cheered, as well as coaches, managers, front-office executives, and umpires.
In compiling his latest work, Baldassaro interviewed numerous former players, including eight Hall of Famers: Craig Biggio, Mike Piazza, Tommy Lasorda, Tony La Russa, Joe Torre, and the late Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, and Ron Santo. Their stories provide a time capsule that documents the evolution of Italian-American participation in the National Pastime.
The program includes a presentation in the Bullpen Theater, followed by a book signing in the Library Atrium. Presentation at 1 pm. Book signing at 1:30 pm.
