Sandlot Kids
A Kid's Dream Come True
The Sandlot Kids' Clubhouse, located in the Library Atrium of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, features fun experiences specially designed for families with kids under 12. From photographs of children with Hall of Famers to traditional clubhouse "knotholes" with artifacts to find behind each, the exhibit offers a complete museum experience without the challenges of the larger museum.
The many hands-on activities include a vertical measurement chart representing the heights of several famous players from the major leagues, the Negro Leagues, and the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, as well as discovery drawers filled with Museum artifacts.
A signature feature of the discovery area is an interactive literacy corner called "What's On Next" with a 37-inch LCD screen featuring "Curious George Plays Baseball" narrated by Hall of Famer member Brooks Robinson; "Players in Pigtails" narrated by AAGPBL veterans Terry Donahue; and several additional video programs. Additionally, "Garfield" creator and artist Jim Davis has contributed a rendering of Garfield the Cat, dressed as ballpark vendor.
