Sunday’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Will Cap Baseball’s Best Weekend
(COOPERSTOWN, N.Y.) – Carlos Beltrán looked out at his surroundings on Saturday and summed it up perfectly.
“These are moments,” said the Class of 2026 Hall of Fame electee, “that could only happen in Cooperstown.”
Beltrán and his fellow Hall of Fame classmates Andruw Jones and Jeff Kent spent a busy day at the home of baseball on the eve of the Induction Ceremony. A morning round of golf was followed by media sessions and then a ride down Main Street in the Parade of Legends.
On Sunday, the Class of 2026 will be inducted as 60 Hall of Famers – a record number at any place – take the stage on the grounds of Cooperstown’s Clark Sports Center. The Induction Ceremony, which is expected to last about two hours, will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET and be shown exclusively on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com.
“It’s been a trip down memory lane,” Kent said. “Competing with these guys for so long, you wanted to beat them on the field and now you’re hugging them. It’s a crazy ride.”
Following the golf tournament and the media sessions, Hall of Famers attended the Awards Presentation at Cooperstown’s Alice Busch Opera Theater. Joe Buck was presented with the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasters, Paul Hoynes was honored with the Baseball Writers’ Association of America Career Excellence Award and Bill White received the Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award. Rick Monday was also recognized on the 50th anniversary of his rescue of the American flag at Dodger Stadium.
Highlights of the speeches from the Awards Presentation will be included in MLB Network’s pre-Induction Ceremony coverage starting at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday.
Some of Saturday’s additional highlights included:
**The annual National Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Golf Tournament was won by the team led by new Hall of Famer Andruw Jones, a foursome that also included Brad Jones, Dru Jones and Keyton Gibson. Adrian Beltré had the low gross score with a 76, followed by Andruw Jones with a 77.
**Fans jammed Main Street to get a glimpse of their Hall of Fame heroes at the 15th Parade of Legends, some lining up for spots along the parade route as early as Wednesday morning.
The Museum is open Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with participants in the Hall of Fame’s Membership Program able to enter the Museum at 8 a.m. For more information on Membership, please visit baseballhall.org/join.
