Class of 2019 Inductees Exhibit debuts at Museum

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The six members of the Class of 2019 will soon be officially enshrined in baseball history when they are inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 21. But their stories of records set, milestones attained and legacies left are now on display in Cooperstown.

The Museum’s 2019 Inductees Exhibit, commemorating the careers of Harold Baines, Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, Mariano Rivera and Lee Smith, is now open and will remain on display until the spring of 2020. The exhibit, which features one display for each 2019 inductee, is located on the Museum’s third floor.

Some of the artifact highlights contained in the Class of 2019 exhibit include:
• The bat Harold Baines used to hit a walk-off solo home run that gave the White Sox a 7-6 win over the Brewers on May 9, 1984, ending an 8-hour, 6-minute game that remains the longest major league game by time
• The Phillies cap worn by Roy Halladay when he threw a perfect game against the Marlins on May 29, 2010
• Edgar Martinez’s 2004 Roberto Clemente Award, presented to him for his baseball skills and commitment to community service
• New York Yankees cap worn by Mike Mussina in his final major league game in 2008, when he reached the 20-win milestone for the first time in his career
• Mariano Rivera’s five World Series rings, won in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2009
• A glove used by Lee Smith in 1991, when his career-high 47 saves for the Cardinals led the major leagues

Admission to the Museum’s Inductees Exhibit is included with regular Museum admission.

The 2019 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. ET on July 21 on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown and will be shown live exclusively on MLB Network. More than 60 Hall of Famers are expected to attend to honor the Class of 2019. Admission to the Induction Ceremony is free.
