Hall of Fame Connects with Cooperstown Elementary Students through New After-School Program

For students growing up in baseball’s hometown, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is offering a chance to learn about the game’s impact on America – all while experiencing the fun and excitement of the National Pastime.

Running March 14 through April 20, the Hall of Fame will deliver a six-week after-school program for Cooperstown Central School Elementary students, integrating the Museum’s award-winning curriculum. The program will run twice a week over six weeks and feature Museum educators delivering the Hall of Fame’s curriculum at the elementary school location as well as at the Hall of Fame to enhance the program.

With the success of the Museum’s After-School All Stars programs in multiple cities around the United States, the Hall of Fame is now bringing this successful program to Cooperstown students. This after-school program is developed to augment the classroom experience utilizing the Hall of Fame’s resources to excite students to learn through the lens of baseball and features the Museum’s award-winning lesson plans in Character Education and the Museum’s ‘Be A Superior Example’ program.

“Baseball provides the ideal content for learning a variety of subjects because of its rich history, its complexity and its multi-faceted application,” said Brad Horn, vice president for communications and education for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. “This program demonstrates just how powerful the baseball learning experience can be. We are thrilled to connect with students in our own backyard, and for Cooperstown students and parents to experience the ways in which we educate youth all across the country.”
