Virtual Voices of the Game: Ila Borders

On Feb. 15, 1994, Ila Borders became the first woman to pitch in a men’s college baseball game. Borders continued to play professionally, making her minor league debut on May 31, 1997. The uniform she wore for each of those milestone games can be viewed as part of the museum's digital collection. Retiring in 2000, Borders pursed a career in firefighting that continues to today. Borders will discuss her playing career, her current initiatives and her book Making the Pitch.
