Virtual Voices of the Game: Jeremy Feador on Jack Graney

On June 14 at 2 pm, we’ll put the Virtual Voices of the Game spotlight on Jack Graney, the 2022 winner of the Ford C. Frick Award. We’ll talk to Cleveland Guardians historian Jeremy Feador about the career of Graney, a pitcher who was converted to the outfield and then became a broadcaster with Cleveland in 1932.

In 1914, Graney made history as the first man to bat against Babe Ruth in the big leagues. Additionally, Graney is now widely considered to be the first former big league player to broadcast a major league game.

We’ll also discuss with Jeremy Feador the reception to the team’s new nickname of Guardians.
