Virtual Field Trip: National Archives Museum
In this Virtual Field Trip program, we will talk to Alice Kamps, curator of the National Archives Museum in Washington, DC, about the new exhibit, All American: The Power of Sports. The exhibit examines the power of athletes, including baseball players, to break social barriers and protest injustices.
Kamps will discuss such baseball icons as Rube Foster, Babe Ruth, and Jackie Robinson, and explore stories involving the flu pandemic of 1918, recruitment of Negro Leagues players, and the connection between baseball and Japanese internment camps.
The All American exhibit is free and open to the public and will be on display in the Lawrence F. O'Brien Gallery of the National Archives Museum in Washington, DC, through January 7, 2024.
