Celebration of Black History Month Highlights Presidents’ Week at the Hall of Fame

Museum Offers Special Daily Programs for the Whole Family Feb. 16-20

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Sixty-eight years ago this spring, Jackie Robinson made history for the Brooklyn Dodgers – helping fulfill baseball’s promise as America’s National Pastime.

As many schools in the northeast pause for Winter Break, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates Robinson’s heroic journey – along with countless other milestones – in honoring Black History Month.

The Cooperstown shrine hosts special daily programs for kids of all ages Feb. 16-20 as part of Presidents’ Week. Families can experience unique Museum artifacts through guided tours, learn about the history of African Americans in baseball and watch the award-winning film “42” in the Museum’s Bullpen Theater.

All events are included with Museum admission. The lineup includes:

Daily Feb. 16-20 Plaque Gallery, 1st Floor

10:30 a.m. Plaques in the Gallery Tour

Aimed at visitors of all ages, this program educates visitors about the Plaque Gallery’s history, the process of creating a Hall of Fame plaque, and the meaning of being a Hall of Famer.

Feb. 16, 18, 20 Sandlot Kids Clubhouse, 1st Floor

11 a.m. Children’s Story Time

Drop in to enjoy our favorite baseball stories. Stay for one story or for the whole program. Great for young children.

Feb. 17, 19 Learning Center, 1st Floor

11 a.m. Children’s Craft and Activity

Young children and their families can create baseball themed crafts and design their very own Hall of Fame plaque.

Feb. 16, 18, 20 Pride and Passion Exhibit, 2nd Floor

1 p.m. Exhibit Guided Tour: Pride and Passion

In this guided tour, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Negro Leagues and our Pride and Passion exhibit.

1 p.m. Special Presentation: 50 Years of Collecting Baseball Cards

An in-depth look at interesting baseball cards from the past 50 years.

2:30 p.m. Screening of the film “42”

The life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey is told in this award-winning film by Legendary Entertainment.

3 p.m. So You Think You Know Baseball? Trivia Challenge

Test your knowledge of baseball history in this interactive game show. Make your way through nine 'innings' of questions, and win a free year-long membership to the Museum.
