Baseball Writers’ Association of America Election Results Revealed Tuesday, Jan. 24

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The results of the 79th Baseball Writers’ Association of America Hall of Fame election will be revealed at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 24, live from the Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery in Cooperstown.

MLB Network will air extensive coverage, interviews and analysis beginning at 1 p.m. ET, then televise the announcement live as Hall of Fame President Josh Rawitch delivers the results. The announcement will be simulcast on the Hall of Fame's Facebook page.

The 2023 BBWAA ballot features 28 players, including 14 new candidates and 14 returnees. Any candidate who receives votes on at least 75 percent of all ballots cast will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023.

The 28 candidates (with the returnees in bold and their 2022 BBWAA election percentage in parentheses) include: Bobby Abreu (8.6%), Bronson Arroyo, Carlos Beltrán, Mark Buehrle (5.8%), Matt Cain, R.A. Dickey, Andre Ethier, Jacoby Ellsbury, J.J. Hardy, Todd Helton (52.0%), Torii Hunter (5.3%), Andruw Jones (41.4%), Jeff Kent (32.7%), John Lackey, Mike Napoli, Jhonny Peralta, Andy Pettitte (10.7%), Manny Ramírez (28.9%), Álex Rodríguez (34.3%), Francisco Rodríguez, Scott Rolen (63.29%), Jimmy Rollins (9.4%), Gary Sheffield (40.6%), Huston Street, Omar Vizquel (23.9%), Billy Wagner (51.0%), Jered Weaver and Jayson Werth.

Fred McGriff was unanimously elected by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee in December, and he will join any BBWAA electees at Induction Weekend, July 21-24 in Cooperstown.
