Hall of Fame to Celebrate Class of 2022 with Virtual Programs
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will provide fans with an up-close look at the members of the Class of 2022 via Virtual Voices of the Game events throughout the coming weeks.
Upcoming programs, which are free via Zoom registration and the Museum’s Facebook page, will highlight the careers of 2022 electees Jim Kaat, Minnie Miñoso and Tony Oliva.
Programs include (all times Eastern):
Bob Costas & Peter Gammons on Jim Kaat
Thursday, Feb. 10, 2 p.m.
Join award-winning media members Bob Costas and Peter Gammons as they celebrate the career of new Hall of Famer Jim Kaat, who followed a remarkable big league pitching career with a second baseball act as an acclaimed broadcaster. Costas and Gammons will discuss Kaat's career and take questions from viewers.
Adrian Burgos on Minnie Miñoso
Thursday, Feb. 17, 12 p.m.
Join us as noted baseball scholar and Era Committee voting member Adrian Burgos discusses the career and life of new Hall of Famer Minnie Miñoso. Burgos will discuss Miñoso’s career in the Negro Leagues, his tenures with the White Sox and Indians and his status as one of the game’s rare five-decade players. Burgos will also take questions from viewers.
Dick Bremer on Tony Oliva
Friday, Feb. 18, 2 p.m.
Over a 38-year career with the Twins, Dick Bremer has become one of the most respected voices in Minnesota sports. Bremer has a lifetime of stories related to some of the game’s greatest legends, including his long-time friend and Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Inductee Tony Oliva. Bremer will discuss the career of Oliva, a three-time American League batting champion who spent the entirety of his 15-year career with the Twins, as well as his recent book "Game Used: My Life in Stitches With the Minnesota Twins", which includes stories about Oliva.
A program highlighting Class of 2022 member Gil Hodges and featuring author Mort Zachter was held on Jan. 20 and is available on the Museum’s YouTube channel, where a library of Museum virtual programs can be found.
