Museum Offers Break Week Programs for Visitors April 25-29

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The 2016 baseball season is fully under way, and fans and students alike can experience the thrills of the new campaign as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum presents April Adventures Week for the whole family April 25-29 in Cooperstown.

With many schools in the Northeast on break the week of April 25-29, Museum visitors can compete in baseball knowledge game shows, celebrate the timeless fun of baseball cards and learn about the history of baseball equipment.

All events are included with Museum admission. The schedule of events includes:

Monday through Friday

The Plaques of the Gallery
10:30 a.m.
Plaque Gallery, 1st Floor

Learn about the history of the Hall of Fame Gallery and the process by which each plaque is made and installed in this 20 minute guided tour. The tour starts by the Buck O’Neil Award exhibit on the first floor.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Open Hour in the Learning Center

This interactive room allows families to explore baseball history through hands-on items from the Hall of Fame’s education collection. Stop by and learn how the equipment and style of the uniforms have changed over time.

History of Baseball Cards

Learn about how baseball cards have changed over the years, from tobacco cards to cards issued with candy and gum, and how Sy Berger introduced the modern day baseball card.

Wednesday

Guided Tour, Pride and Passion Exhibit
1 p.m.
2nd Floor

In this guided presentation, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Negro Leagues and our Pride & Passion Exhibit.

Tuesday & Thursday

Hands on History
12 p.m.
Learning Center, 1st Floor

Join us for a brief history of baseball equipment. This interactive display contains equipment that showcases the evolution of baseballs, bats, and gloves over the course of baseball history.

So You Think You Know Baseball?
3 p.m.
Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor

Test your knowledge of baseball history in this interactive game show. Make your way through nine 'innings' of questions, and win a commemorative Hall of Fame gift.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Museum observes regular hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. Ticket prices are $23 for adults (13 and over), $15 for seniors (65 and over) and $12 for juniors (ages 7-12) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations.
