Hall of Fame Weekend Visitors Guide

Hall of Fame Weekend 2019 will take place July 19-22, with the Induction Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, July 21.

Harold Baines and Lee Smith, who were elected on Dec. 9 by the Today's Game Era Committee, will be joined in the Class of 2019 by Baseball Writers' Association of America electees Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina and Mariano Rivera.

At the July 20 Awards Presentation, Jayson Stark will be presented with the 2019 J.G. Taylor Spink Award for writers and the late Al Helfer will be honored with the 2019 Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasters.

 INDUCTION PARKING AND RESTRICTIONS

PARKING

Three special paid parking lots will be available on Sunday, July 21.

Locations for the additional parking lots are:

CY YOUNG LOT: Adjacent to the Blue Trolley Lot.
HANK AARON LOT: On Route 33 just east of the Induction.
BABE RUTH LOT: On Route 33 south of the Induction Site. Please note this lot includes shuttle service to the Induction Site.

TROLLEY

The Cooperstown Trolley will provide transit to the Hall of Fame and Doubleday Field from three different locations during the Weekend:

Red Lot on Route 28 (Glen Avenue) at Maple Street
Blue Lot on Route 28 just south of Cooperstown
Yellow Lot on Route 80 at the upper parking lot of the Fenimore Art Museum

All-day passes are available, with tickets for $5 per person July 19-22. The Trolley will operate throughout Hall of Fame Weekend daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday, July 19

Museum hours: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

PLAY Ball with Ozzie Smith

8 a.m. • Space is Limited • $750 for members and $1,000 for non-members required
The “Wizard” is joined by Hall of Famer guests Trevor Hoffman, Jim Thome and Alan Trammell in this interactive fundraiser for the Museum’s educational outreach programs.

Saturday, July 20

Museum hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Plaque Gallery closes at 4:30 p.m.
Exclusive Member access begins at 7 a.m.

Conversations at Doubleday Field

Noon – 3 p.m. • Doubleday Field
These programs are FREE and open to the public on a first-come first-served basis. In the event of rain these events will be cancelled.

Noon: MLB Network’s Brian Kenny hosts a conversation about our National Pastime with former Spink and Frick Award winners.
1 p.m.: The Bob Feller Act of Valor Foundation presents a celebration of Hall of Famer Bob Feller and baseball’s commitment to the military.
2 p.m.: Mariners PA Announcer Tom Hutyler hosts a celebration of Edgar Martinez, featuring former Mariners players Jay Buhner, Alvin Davis, Jamie Moyer and Dan Wilson, Mariners Radio Broadcaster Rick Rizzs and Mariners Athletic Trainer Emeritus Rick Griffin.

Hall of Fame Awards Presentation

4:30 p.m. • Doubleday Field
The Hall of Fame Awards Presentation will feature the presentation of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for baseball writing to Jayson Stark and the posthumous honoring of Al Helfer with the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasters.
Gates open at 3 p.m. • Limited free seating is available to the public

Hall of Fame Parade of Legends

6-7 p.m. • Main Street
Following the Awards Presentation, catch a glimpse of Hall of Fame members as they ride down Main Street in the Hall of Fame Parade of Legends. Vehicles will be provided by Ford Motor Company.

Sunday, July 21

Museum hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Exclusive Member access begins at 7 a.m.

Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

1:30 p.m. • Clark Sports Center
The Ceremony will take place on the grounds outside of the Clark Sports Center, which is located on lower Susquehanna Avenue just one mile south of the Hall of Fame. The short walk provides a picturesque view of the homes of Cooperstown. Shuttles from the corner of Main and Fair streets will begin service at 8 a.m.

The event will be held outdoors rain or shine, unless severe weather forces the cancellation of the public event. The Ceremony is expected to last approximately three hours. Lawn seating for the event is unlimited and free of charge. A blanket or lawn chair is recommended for comfortable viewing. It is recommended that visitors bring a cap and sunscreen, as the weather has the potential to be quite warm. Refreshments are sold at the site. Please note that professional interpreters will be provided for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing.

Additional Spectator Information:
* Access to the Induction Site closes at 4 p.m. on Saturday and re-opens at 7 a.m. on Sunday. Chairs and blankets can be left at the Induction Site during the day Saturday before 4 p.m.

* No coolers, backpacks or large items will be permitted until the site re-opens on Sunday morning.

* Vehicular traffic on Susquehanna Avenue from Walnut Street to Bowerstown Bridge/County Route 52 and on Brooklyn Avenue will be limited to permit/local traffic only beginning at 8 p.m.
on Saturday until the end of the Induction Ceremony on Sunday.

* Use of drones is not permitted in the area of the Clark Sports Center and Induction Site.

* All items carried into the site should be in a clear, see-through style backpack/bag. All packages are subject to search.

Lawn seating is unlimited and is free • No ticket is required
The reserved seating area will open at noon • A ticket is required

Monday, July 22

Museum hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Exclusive Member access begins at 8 a.m.

Legends of the Game Roundtable

10:30 a.m. • Clark Sports Center • ticket required
Class of 2019 inductees Harold Baines, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, Mariano Rivera and Lee Smith will share their Hall of Fame Weekend experience in this Members-only event hosted by MLB Network’s Peter Gammons. Shuttles from the corner of Main and Fair streets will begin service at 8:30 a.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and are available at the Museum’s Information Desk.
