Standout Boston Red Sox outfielder Dwight Evans and prolific writer Erik Sherman take fans back to a glorious time in baseball history, filled with unforgettable World Series appearances in 1975 and 1986, legendary teammates like Jim Rice and Fred Lynn, and some of the most memorable games in postseason history.

Yet for all his greatness on the baseball field, the immense challenges that Evans and his family faced in the real world were even more impressive. It’s a journey that Evans poignantly explores in full detail. Evans and his wife Susan relied on class, dignity, and strength to help nurture and comfort two sons, Timothy and Justin, as they battled neurofibromatosis (NF) – commonly known as elephant man’s disease – a condition that causes tumors to form in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Dewey is the long-awaited story of Dwight Evans from the man himself.

Sherman will be joined by Dwight Evans, a veteran of 20 major league seasons. Evans hit 379 home runs for the Boston Red Sox, trailing only Carl Yastrzemski and Ted Williams in franchise history. During the decade of the 1980s, no one hit more home runs in the American League and no player had more extra base hits in all of baseball than Evans. Also a phenomenal defender in right field, Evans won eight Gold Glove awards.
