The Legacy of Jackie Robinson

Seventy five years ago this year, Jackie Robinson made history for the Brooklyn Dodgers – helping fulfill baseball’s destiny as America’s National Pastime. On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first player to break through the color barrier in the National League.

To honor the legacy of Jackie Robinson, the museum will host special daily programming. Museum guests can experience unique Museum artifacts, learn about the history of Black Baseball and participate in programming throughout the two weeks surrounding the 75th Anniversary.
