Hall of Famer Randy Johnson to Help Museum Celebrate Opening Day 2023

(COOPERSTOWN, NY)Randy Johnson took the mound in his team’s Opening Day game 14 times during a career that brought him to the Hall of Fame.

For Opening Day 2023, the legendary lefty will start the season in Cooperstown as the Museum celebrates the return of baseball with one of the game’s greatest stars.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will host an Opening Day Celebration Watch Party on Thursday, March 30, in the Grandstand Theater. Johnson, elected to the Hall of Fame in 2015, will participate in a pregame conversation prior to the 7 p.m. White Sox vs. Astros matchup, which will be televised by ESPN and shown on the big screen in the Grandstand Theater.

Johnson, who posted a 7-2 record on Opening Day en route to 303 big league victories, will discuss his new photo exhibit, Randy Johnson: Storytelling with Photographs, that will open April 1 at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown. Johnson will begin the evening with a question-and-answer session. This is a no autograph/no photograph event.

The evening will also feature ballpark snacks and between-inning programming during the game.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for the Celebration Watch Party, with the pregame conversation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children 12-and-under and are now on available to participants in the Hall of Fame’s Membership Program. All remaining tickets will be available to the general public starting March 17. Click here for more information.
