BASE Race Returns to Cooperstown May 28
Annual Charity Runs Part of Family-Themed Events at Hall of Fame Classic Weekend
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The legends of the game used their legs – at the plate, on the mound and on the bases – en route to a place in Cooperstown.
And this Memorial Day Weekend, runners from all over the country will head down the road to the home of baseball for the fifth annual BASE Race charity runs.
The Hall of Fame’s popular BASE Race returns as part of Hall of Fame Classic Weekend festivities. The Museum, along with Cooperstown’s Clark Sports Center, will present a 10k competitive run and a 5k fun run at 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m., respectively – on Saturday, May 28, starting and ending at historic Doubleday Field. The race events benefit the Museum’s “Be A Superior Example” program promoting healthy lifestyle choices for individuals of all ages, educating students about the dangers of performance-enhancing substances.
Registration for the 2016 BASE Race is $25 for individuals and $55 for families, while on race day registration is $30 for individuals and $65 for families. Each registered runner will receive a race medal (for the first 300 runners to register), goodie bag, a custom Hall of Fame bib and a free general admission ticket to the Hall of Fame Classic.
BASE Race registration is available online at http://baserace.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=5283.
