Hall of Fame’s BASE Race Takes Runners on Journey through Historic Cooperstown on Saturday
Runners Can Pick Up Race Packets on Friday for 5K, 10K Runs Supporting Museum’s ‘Be A Superior Example’ Program
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – With thousands of visitors planning a trip to Cooperstown for Memorial Day Weekend, runners from across the country are preparing for a trip through America’s Most Perfect Village in support of one of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s most popular educational programs.
The Hall of Fame, along with Cooperstown’s Clark Sports Center, will present the sixth annual BASE Race charity runs – a 5k fun run at 9:15 a.m. and a competitive 10k event at 9 a.m. – on Saturday, May 27 – starting and ending at historic Doubleday Field and featuring courses that wind through scenic Cooperstown. Runners will have the chance to warm up on Doubleday Field from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. prior to the start of the race.
The race events benefit the Museum’s “Be A Superior Example” program promoting healthy lifestyle choices for individuals of all ages.
The Hall of Fame’s popular BASE Race returns as part of Hall of Fame Classic Weekend festivities. Registration for the 2017 BASE Race is $25 for individuals and $55 for families, while on race day registration is $30 for individuals and $65 for families. Each registered runner will receive a race medal (for the first 300 runners to register), a goodie bag, a custom Hall of Fame bib and a free general admission ticket to the Hall of Fame Classic.

Registered runners can pick up their race packets on Friday, May 26 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Doubleday Field Parking Lot and from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27 at Doubleday Field.

Proceeds from the BASE Race support outreach for BASE, the Hall of Fame’s educational initiative which promotes the concepts of healthy lifestyle choices to a worldwide audience, educating students about the dangers of performance-enhancing substances.

The 2017 Hall of Fame Classic, presented by the Ford Motor Company, will feature Hall of Famers Wade Boggs, Goose Gossage, Rollie Fingers, Juan Marichal, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith as managers and coaches for the seven-inning legends game at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, May 27 at Doubleday Field. Players representing each of the 30 big league clubs will appear at the Classic.
Tickets will be available for purchase at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Ticket Booth through Friday, May 26, and again at the Doubleday Field Will Call tent beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 27.
Tickets are $12.50 for seats along the first and third base lines, $11 for outfield seats.
On Sunday, May 28, the Museum transitions to summer hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week through the day before Labor Day.
