1966 Hall of Fame Game

Future Hall of Famer Steve Carlton allowed just one earned run in a complete game victory as the Cardinals defeated the Twins 7-5 in the Hall of Fame Game on July 25, 1966, at Cooperstown's Doubleday Field.

Carlton allowed eight hits while striking out 10 Minnesota batters and was backed by another future Hall of Fame teammate, Orlando Cepeda, who hit two home runs and drove in three runs.

Curt Flood, Mike Shannon and Julian Javier also had two hits apiece for the Cardinals.

Don Mincher and Ted Uhlaender drove in two runs apiece for the Twins. Bill Pleis took the loss for Minnesota.

Future Hall of Fame umpire Nestor Chylak was behind the plate for the game.
